On Wednesday, 2009 July 22, a total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half of Earth. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow begins in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China.

In the solar eclipse system the moon passes in front of the sun, for 6 mins in india on this one, the longest of the 21 cen.(to know solar eclipse system) the ancients did many rituals to appease the gods, thus the superstition. in my opinion the gods are the ones who positioned the moon in the first place. its 2 much of a coincidence that the moon forms a ring in the sun-due to its distance relative to earth, you have better odds at blindly throwing a needle in a haystack and hitting a specific straw than the moon naturally being placed where it is..
